I’ve been living with my new Tacoma for a few months now. I’ve had some considerable seat time and almost 4,000 miles in 3 months. I want to do a review but something different. Most reviews only get a few hours of seat time over the course of a few days. I want to do mine from a living with it basis. I put my own cold hard cash down on the line, so I will be a bit basis. However, I did do quite a research and test drives of the mid-size truck segment.

What do you want to know about the 2016 Tacoma? If you are seriously considering purchasing one, what do you want to know from someone who bought one?

Corn or Flower?

How is it on the highway?

I read the title and honestly expected an actual taco review.

What’s your gas mileage? How is it to drive on a daily basis? How much can you haul?

Chicken or Steak? How is it off road?

A friend of mine owns a 2014(?)model and loves everything about it, except its absolutely shitful gas mileage. Do you agree?

TORQUE! I want to know if the new engine feels down on mid range power vs the outgoing 4.0.

Sounds like the same angle I took with our Odyssey review after 6 months — it was all about the things you’d never notice after a couple test drives, but you definitely notice after living with the car for a while. It’s entirely different than the typical new car review where you only spend a few hours before writing it. Unfortunately (and realistically), it was far more negative than a new car review because the novelty wears off and you realize that you just committed yourself to many thousands of dollars :D

I feel it is the better angle. If you are committing yourself to buying a new vehicle, a perspective from an existing owner is more valuable than someone who isn’t putting their own cash on the line.

Exactly. And in my case, it was about the sanity check for other people — do you really want a minivan? Do you really want THIS minivan? If they had relied solely on the major reviews, the write-ups were glowing, as if the car had no faults.
